Health Cash Plan

The University is pleased to introduce a new employee benefit to help you budget towards your everyday healthcare costs.

With effect from 1st August 2015, we are working in partnership with UK Healthcare to offer all staff a healthcare cash plan scheme, which is designed to help cover your day to day healthcare costs and offers 100% cash back (up to policy limits) for a variety of different medical treatments including:

  • Dental check-ups, X-Rays and hygienist fees
  • Eye tests, spectacles and contact lenses
  • Medical prescriptions
  • Complementary therapies such as physiotherapy and acupuncture
  • Health screenings
  • A stay in hospital by you or your child

Please take a look at the benefits table to find out what's covered under the plan.

As a policy holder, you will also be able to benefit from worldwide cover, as well as savings on spas, holidays, theme parks and attractions.

Anyone aged 18 - 70 can take out a policy and you can add your partner/spouse (this includes same-sex couples) to the plan. Up to four dependent children (up to the age of 18) are covered completely free of charge. There is no need for a medical and there are no qualifying periods (excluding maternity), allowing you to claim straight away and get immediate benefit.

UK Healthcare is the trading style of Bolton & District Hospital Saturday Council which operates on a not for profit basis. They have provided Healthcare cash plans for many years with roots going as far back as 1813, when the residents of Great and Little Bolton organised a public collection to raise money for the first 7-bed dispensary. They provide regular charitable donations to health-related charities.
