The University and College Union (UCU) is formally recognised through a recognition agreement with the University of Reading 

UCU is recognised as the body representing academic ,and academic--related and professional and managerial staff on matters of pay, pensions, and terms and conditions of service. In addition to this UCU representatives assist or represent members in case work, particularly when a difficulty arises between the member and the University.
