Tuition fees for international students

For 2026/27, standard fees for international students are:

  • £25,850 a year for non-laboratory courses
  • £30,650 a year for subjects with significant laboratory study or workshop content
  • £23,000 for the first year of an integrated international foundation year, followed by the standard course fees for the standard duration of your bachelor's level study.

For 2025/26, standard fees for international students are:

  • £25,250 a year for non-laboratory courses
  • £29,950 a year for subjects with significant laboratory study or workshop content
  • £22,500 for the first year of an integrated international foundation year, followed by the standard course fees for the standard duration of your bachelor's level study.

These are usually paid in two instalments.

Please note

  • If you enrolled in 2025/26 or earlier, your tuition fees will be fixed at the same level for the standard duration of your course.
  • If you enrol in 2026/27 and onwards, your tuition fees are subject to an annual increase based on the UK’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), capped at a maximum of 4%, as set out in your Student Contract.

Other costs

In addition to the living, accommodation, and other course costs outlined on the previous pages, you’ll also need to budget for travel to and from your home country, plus the price of a visa application and the immigration health surcharge. Please contact our Immigration Advice Team for more details.

You should ensure you have sufficient funds to cover all costs before coming to Reading. There may be support available. Consult your local British Council/Education Counselling Service office.

We also offer you a range of generous scholarships to help support your studies.

If you are experiencing unexpected financial hardship, please contact the Student Financial Support team on +44 (0) 378 5555 or email studentfunding@reading.ac.uk.

Placement year/study abroad fees

If you spend a full academic year studying abroad or working on a placement as part of your degree, you’ll only pay partial tuition during the year away from Reading. This is currently set at 15% of the standard tuition fee and applies to home and international students.

You’ll still need to budget for local living costs (such as accommodation, food, travel, visa fees and medical insurance), which may be more expensive if you spend the year abroad. Home-fee students can apply for a placement bursary to help cover expenses.

This applies only to situations where the whole year is spent abroad or on placement. Where only a part of the year is spent abroad or on placement, the full tuition fee is payable to the University of Reading as usual.

Fees policy for students

Find out more about tuition fees and your financial obligations as a student by reading the University's Fees Policy.

Undergraduate scholarships

We have several scholarships available to undergraduate students.

Fraud awareness

Your tuition and accommodation fees should be paid directly to the University of Reading, using one of the listed payment methods.

You should never provide your personal, University login, or banking details to any company or individual that claims to offer discounts or preferential exchange rates.

The University is not responsible for any payments made using a method not supported by us. You will still be required to pay your fees in full if we do not receive payment from an unsupported payment method.

Please contact our International Student Advisory Team with any questions: int.adv@reading.ac.uk.
