Languages outreach

Our 2012/13 programme of outreach events for modern foreign language students is intended to enthuse your students whilst offering curriculum enhancement and enrichment. See below for details on how to get involved will be added shortly.

Year 12 Summer School in French, German and Italian

Our Year 12 non-residential summer school is for students studying French, German or Italian at AS level and is thinking about studying languages at University.  The two day course will help students to improve their linguistic abilities as well as experiencing sessions on areas of culture, history or politics from those countries enabling students to get a feel for the whole experience of language learning.  Priority will be given to students that have no prior experience of Higher Education in their immediate families.

Reading Language Scholars - from September 2012

The Reading Scholars programme is a new programme starting in September 2012. It will comprise subject-specific input sessions, a bespoke IAG schedule of sessions, student shadowing, online e-mentoring with a University of Reading mentor and a non-residential summer school. It is targeted at year 12 students who have performed highly at GCSE and are on course to achieve well at A-level or equivalent. 

Languages will be one of the strands of the programme, offered in the subject areas of French and German. The programme will run with targeted schools and colleges. If you would like more information, please contact Laura Poplett, Student Recruitment and Access Officer, at l.j.poplett@reading.ac.uk.
