About us
Reading's busy outreach team works with prospective students, parents, advisors and teachers to provide tailored information, guidance and advice aimed at supporting applications and progression to university.
We offer a range of free events, programmes and activities designed with particular groups in mind. These include bespoke admissions and IAG sessions, subject-specific activities targeted by age group and longer-term 'transition schemes' for learners who have faced some form of disadvantage.
What we offer
Work with Schools and Colleges in the South-East/South-West
The University offers a variety of activities for local and regional schools and colleges. Variously targeted, these include 'in-reach' events on campus to give your students a real sense of what studying at the University of Reading might entail, as well as activities in schools/colleges. Activities range from IAG conferences for advisors to master classes, summer schools, subject and theme days to world of work events, debates and conferences. We have a particularly strong outreach programme in STEM subjects and modern languages.

We hope to continue working with as many local schools as possible after the closure of the Aimhigher Project, resource permitting. The University is committed to expanding the reach of its work with schools and colleges and is exploring alternative ways of meeting demand, including web-based virtual admissions sessions. Join our network now to be kept up-to-date with what's on offer.

Reading Scholars Scheme
Currently under development, this broad-based transition programme will draw together a number of subject-specific strands aimed at supporting those students 'most able, least likely' to enter Higher Education. Targeted at those who have performed well at GCSE and who have faced some form of educational disadvantage, students will join the scheme either in Year 11 or Year 12, depending upon their choice of subject strand. The Scholars programme will comprise subject-specific input sessions, bespoke IAG sessions, e-mentoring and a non-residential summer school.
We are currently in the process of identifying target schools for the programme. If you would like more information, please contact the team at: outreach@reading.ac.uk
