Our BA International Business Management course is for students in China looking to transfer to the UK after completing the SQA Advanced Diploma.

This programme builds strong global business foundations, covering strategy, HR, ethics, marketing and AI, while keeping employability at its core.

You’ll further advance your knowledge gained from the SQA Advanced Diploma to apply international business concepts and develop the skills needed to thrive in a fast‑changing business world.

Entry requirements A Level Not applicable

Completion and award of BB/AC/CA of the relevant SQA Advanced Diploma. The relevant SQA Advanced Diplomas are:

  • Business
  • Business with Accounting
  • Business with Human Resource Management

  • Financial Services
  • Global Trade Business
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Travel and Tourism.

You must also meet one of these English Language entry requirements:

  • IELTS: overall 6.5 with no component score less than 5.5
  • TOEFL (IBT): 88 with no less than 17 in Listening and Writing, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking
  • Duolingo: overall 125, with no sub score less than 100
  • EAP: overall score of B with no section less than 6.0
  • Oxford ELLT: overall score of 7 with no element less than 5.

Pre-sessional English

If you do not currently meet the IELTS (or equivalent) entry requirements you can still apply to BA International Business Management. You will need to achieve the requirements before you start the course. A recommended route to do this is to also apply to one of our Pre-sessional English (PSE) courses, which have a 97% pass rate and take place on campus in the summer.

These vary in length depending on your current achievement:

  • 16-week course for IELTS scores of 5.0/4.5
  • 10-week course for IELTS scores of 5.5/5.0 writing 5.5
  • 6-week course for IELTS scores of 6.0/5.5
  • No need to take the Pres-sessional English course for IELTS scores of 6.5/5.5.

Structure

  • Year 1

Developing Personal Leadership

Gain a comprehensive view of personal leadership development and learn how to plain your own leadership skills strategy. You’ll examine concepts, theories, and evidence needed to develop your understanding and competencies associated with leadership development and demonstrate contextual and self-awareness.

Strategy and International Business

Study the strategic issues confronting managers of multinational enterprises (MNEs) both within the firm and in the global marketplace. You’ll examine factors that influence the development and the competitive positioning of MNEs and gain an understanding of both the external business environment and internal nature of the firm and its strategy.

International Human Resource Management

Learn the key concepts for understanding international human resource management. You'll explore the practice of managing human resources in international businesses and consider variations in the practice of managing human resources in different countries and cultures.

Global Ethics for International Management

Develop your awareness of global approaches to ethics. You’ll gain a critical understanding of the key approaches to ethical theory from different cultural and national contexts as you study their application to key global issues in the relationships between business and society.

International Marketing

Gain an in depth understanding of the complexity and variety of factors playing a role in designing and implementing international marketing programmes. This module will stimulate your critical and independent thinking as you consider topics from theoretical and empirical perspectives and the implications for marketing operations of organisations trading across cultures.

Business Applications of AI

Build your foundational knowledge of AI across business functions. You'll gain the analytical skills needed to identify opportunities where AI can create value and risks where AI can be misused. You'll learn how machine learning is used for fraud detection in finance, and how agents are used for customer experience management in marketing.

These are the modules that we currently offer for 2026/27 entry. They may be subject to change as we regularly review our module offerings to ensure they're informed by the latest research and teaching methods.

Global Sustainability Leaders Scholarship

This exciting new undergraduate scholarship scheme is focused on creating a community of global sustainability leaders of the future. We are offering up to 400 scholarships per year, for high-achieving students from the UK and overseas.

Each scholar will receive £6,000 a year for maintenance and living costs, for up to four years of full-time study on their course (subject to terms and conditions).
