University of Reading appearing in news media including TV and radio

Health and wellbeing:

  • Dr Simon Clarke (Biomedical Science) spoke to LBC News (from 1.27.00) and The Telegraph (republished by Yahoo!News) on rising flu cases. 
  • Dr Clarke was also quoted by The Daily Mail and YourLifeChoices about rising cases of pneumonia.  
  • Newbury Today reported on a University-funded short film exploring men’s mental health. 

Food and farming:

  • Breathe highlighted research from Professor Julie Lovegrove (Food and Nutritional Sciences), finding that eating apples lowers cholesterol. 

#PlanetPartners: working with global partners to protect the environment

  • USA Times, Archynetys, and Time News quoted Professor Jon Robson (Meteorology) in response to a study simulating the collapse of Atlantic meridional overturning circulation. 

Business and society:

  • Dr Ruvi Zeigler (Law) was quoted by Jewish Report on South Africa closing airspace to flights from Gaza. 
  • Professor Dominik Zaum, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation), spoke to MoneyWeb (republished by The Telegraph, The Paper, Stocks24 and various outlets) about states and leaders using ‘deals’ instead of rules. Professor Zaum also spoke to Hot Business on public government trust. 
  • MirageNews and MyScience featured a study from Dr Katie Gray (Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences) on detecting AI faces. From our story: Five minutes of training could help you spot fake AI faces 
  • Professor Radu Tunaru (Henley Business School) was quoted by Raconteur about the London Stock Exchange.  

Heritage and culture:

  • Professor Hella Eckhardt (Archaeology) was quoted by Phys.org and Popular Archaeology on new research about a Roman mosaic depicting the Trojan War story.  
  • GEO (republished by MSN) reported on the creation of a database of Medieval soldiers co-developed by Professor Adrian Bell (ICMA Centre).

  • Vijesti quoted Professor Gary Stephens (Pharmacy) on poisonous nerve agent Novichok. 
  • Professor Robert Van de Noort, Vice-Chancellor, was quoted by UCAS about a tool which highlights the university scholarships. From our story: New UCAS tool showcases Reading sustainability scholarships

  • UKPropertyForums reported that Reading graduate Andy Heath has been appointed as a partner for Alder King.  
  • Reading graduate Chris Parry has been selected as the Reform candidate for Hampshire and Solent, reports Eastleigh News. 
  • Henley Business School graduate Marcin Klammer is the new Expansion Director for the Central and Eastern European region for Nhood, reports CIJ World, PropertyNews, Gospodarka, EuroBuild and various global outlets. 
  • The Telegraph (print and republished by Yahoo!News) featured an obituary for Economics and Philosophy graduate Nigel de Gruchy, General Secretary of NASUWT. 
  • The Guardian (republished by AOL) provided an obituary for Glenys Thomas, who studied Psychology.
