COVID-19: expert comment on the pandemic 

  • Dr Simon Clarke (Biological Sciences) is quoted in The Telegraph (print also) on the deadliness of the Kent variant - the article also appears on MSN UK and Yahoo News UK & Ireland; Dr Clarke's comments on this topic feature in other national and international publications, including The Express, France24 Online, Newsweek and Medical Xpress.
  • Dr Clarke is also quoted in The Independent on how safe hairdressers are; and Metro and InYourArea on research into whether it is possible to predict who is likely to become seriously ill from Covid.
  • Dr Al Edwards (Pharmacy) spoke to LBC Radio on the test and trace system.

  • BBC Radio Berkshire and Heart Thames Valley mentioned research from Reading scientists which has found that dangerous blood clotting in patients with Covid-19 may be treatable, and also reported that this was the topic of last night's public lecture. Read our news story.
  • An interview with Gurinder Singh (Pharmacy) on the importance of community pharmacies in the pandemic appears in The Swindon Advertiser (print).
  • A Workplace Insight article on better ventilation in offices is based on a report lead by Derek Clements-Croome, Professor Emeritus at Reading. He is also quoted in the article.

Students returning to campus: Prof Dominik Zaum, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, spoke to BBC Radio Berkshire about the return of some students back to campus and how things will progress as restrictions begin to lift.
