University of Reading Master’s Scholarships 2023

The University of Reading offers an extensive range of scholarships to master’s students. Some awards are provided directly by the University, others are allocated to our students by donors and sponsors and a few are jointly funded. We are delighted that in 2023/24 we will have available more master’s scholarships than in any previous year.

The University of Reading’s Master’s Scholarships Scheme offers two funding opportunities:

  • Centenary Scholarships – To mark the upcoming 100th anniversary of our Royal Charter, the University is offering 125 scholarships for which all master’s students are eligible to apply.  These awards have been allocated to particular countries.
  • Subject Scholarships – These awards are provided by most of our Schools and are course-specific.  Students may be considered for both this scholarship and the Centenary Scholarship.

Key information and how to apply for a scholarship

Before applying for the Centenary and Subject Scholarships, please read our Guidance on Completing the Scholarship Application Form for useful information about the application process.

  • To apply for funding, a candidate must have received an offer of admission to one our master’s courses. The scholarship application form will be made available to eligible students via the me@reading applicant portal, and will be accessible up until the closing date.
  • Study may be on a full-time or part-time basis but flexible learning / part-time modular master’s courses are excluded.
  • Each scholarship for an international student is worth £4,000 and for UK / Republic of Ireland students (whose tuition fees are ordinarily lower) the amount is £2,000.
  • Scholarships take the form of a tuition fee reduction and your tuition fees are confirmed when an offer of admission is made.
  • Scholarships are awarded primarily based on previous academic accomplishment.
  • There are two rounds of scholarship applications received. Round One closes on 1 March 2023 and Round Two will consider applications received by 1 June 2023. Candidates unsuccessful in round one automatically go forward for consideration in round two, provided they still hold a valid offer of admission to an eligible course.
  • Where a candidate is eligible for both a Centenary Scholarship and Subject Scholarship, it is only necessary to complete one application – you will be considered for both awards and it is possible to be selected for both, doubling the amount of funding that we are providing

Full terms and conditions are published with the application form and in submitting a scholarship application the candidate is deemed to have read and agreed to the terms and conditions.
