University of Reading appearing in news media including TV and radio

NASA video: Professor Mathew Owens (Meteorology) is quoted by Insider, Business Insider (Nederland), Business Insider (India), Yahoo!, MSN, Rocket News, Stuff, Daily Magazine, and News Break explaining a video released by NASA of a 'churning tornado' on the sun's surface.  

Medieval phone app: Glastonbury Nub News report on the release of an app that explores medieval monasteries, their archaeology, myths and legends. Project leader, Professor Roberta Gilchrist (Archaeology) and Cheryl Green (alumna) are mentioned for their research on Glastonbury Abbey which inspired the app.

#PlanetPartners: working with global partners to protect the environment

  • Professor Helen Dacre (Meteorology) was interviewed by BBC Radio Berkshire about World Meteorological Day celebrations and her current research.
  • Professor Chris Hilson (Law) is quoted by Footprint on the UK's deposit return scheme, which aims to improve the recycling and reuse of unsustainable packaging materials.
  • Reading Today (in print) mentions that a written statement by Professor Hannah Cloke (Geography/Meteorology) was read during a protest against the pollution of waterways.
  • News 4 Jax mentions the University's research linking climate change with airplane turbulence, in collaboration with the National Centre for Atmospheric Science.

  • Professor Rosa Freedman's (Law) research on child abuse and exploitation forms the basis of a safeguarding course for UN Peacekeepers, Wokingham Today and Reading Today (in print) report.
  • Dr Rebecca Jones (Henley Business School) is quoted by People Management on workplace culture, in the wake of the recent investigation into the MET Police.

  • FNB News mentions that Professor Ian Givens (IFNH/Agriculture) gave a special address on the sustainability and nutritional benefits of eating millet, at The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India's (FSSAI) Global Millets Conference. Read our story.
  • Professor John Hammond (Agriculture) is quoted by Farmers Guardian (in print) on the benefits of intercropping.
  • Industry Sourcing mentions the University's collaborative research on the impact of sweeteners on the production of dopamine.

#UniForReading: our role as a civic university  

  • Professor Nazanin Derakhshan (Psychology) was interviewed by BBC Radio Berkshire in advance of her Edith Morley lecture on the psychological impacts of cancer diagnosis and treatment.
