Getting around
From campus
The town centre is well within walking distance of the University’s Whiteknights and London Road campuses, and buses from the Whiteknights campus run very frequently 24-hours a day.
Reading also has a large network of buses and taxi services to help you get around.
Exploring the area
If you want to explore the UK or visit friends and family around the country, then Reading is in the ideal place.
The town is very well connected, with direct trains running to major cities around the UK, including Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol and Cardiff. London is only half an hour away by rail, and services run until late into the night. Additionally, the M4 motorway, which connects London with South Wales, is on the edge of town.
Airports
Getting to and from international airports London Heathrow and London Gatwick is simple. It's only 40 minutes by a direct Railair bus service to get from Reading station to London Heathrow, and London Gatwick is just over an hour away by train.

You'll find a lively riverside bar and restaurant area, cinemas, sports clubs and plenty of pubs, cafes and parks. There's loads to do in the evening too, with clubs, live music, dancing and shows across town. And, of course, there are a variety of student events throughout the week.
Reading also has fantastic transport links, and you can reach London within half an hour by train.
