Archaeology brings together the humanities and sciences using material remains to explore, interpret and reconstruct the rich diversity of past cultures.
Sometimes what seem like tiny details can be the start of an exciting journey of discovery, and you never know what you might find.
At the University of Reading, our expertise starts with the earliest humans and spans up until the medieval period. We focus mainly on British, European and Near Eastern Archaeology, but explore other regions across the world.
The issues studied are global in relevance and impact, including human responses to climate change; cultural diversity and identity; agricultural development, diet and food; and disease and death.
As well as being fun, challenging and immensely rewarding, our degrees enable you to develop an impressive range of skills. They will prepare you for a career in the archaeology and heritage sectors, related sectors such as planning and forensic science, and many other fields where your skills, experience and mindset will be valuable assets.
