Wi-Fi: Connecting a personal device to eduroam

The University of Reading campus Wi-fi is called eduroam and is free to use for all staff and students.

The Marvis Client application

Marvis Client logo

We use an application you install on your device called “Marvis Client” to control access for personal devices. With the Marvis App each device holds a digital certificate, giving you smoother access and stronger protection across all your devices.

This app needs to be installed on each device you are using to connect to eduroam. Once set up, your device will connect automatically. You won’t need your username and password (after initial set up) as authorisation is stored on the device.

Minimum requirements

You must be running a current supported operating system (one which is still receiving updates):

  • iOS for iPhone or iPad: 18 (or 26)
  • Android: 13, 14, 15, 16
  • ChromeOS: 133, 134, 136, 137, 138
  • MacOS :14 Sonama, 15 Sequoia, 26 Tahoe
  • Windows: Windows 11 23H2

If you are not on one of the above, you will not be able to use eduroam until you have updated your device to a current supported version.

If you are a Linux user, please raise a ticket with the IT Service Desk for help with manual settings.
