Microsoft's 365 (M365) suite combines email, calendaring, OneDrive and SharePoint file storage, and Microsoft Teams. Choose from the links below to get instructions on how to get the tool and information/help regarding it:

How to login

Use this link to Log in to Microsoft 365

Log in using the format username@ as below:

  • Students: ab123456@student.reading.ac.uk (example)
  • Staff: ab123456@reading.ac.uk (example)  

Using your email address to log in will not work!

What is available?

Staff Students

Office Software

  • Office applications (such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel) online
  • Installation of full versions on personally owned PCs/Laptops, Tablets and Phones (up to five installations per device type). See box for details.
  • Integration with OneDrive for Business

OneDrive for Business

  • 500GB for students and 1TB for staff. 
  • Ability to share files/folders with others. Be mindful that any documents shared will need to be moved should the owner of the document leave.
  • Note: Ensure there are no contractual restrictions on use of Cloud Storage for the work you wish to store in One Drive. Please read the University of Reading's usage requirements regarding OneDrive.

Email and Calendaring

  • 50GB storage (can be increased on request)
  • Available online or via Outlook desktop client

Microsoft Teams

  • Instant messaging (chat)
  • Online meetings
  • Document collaboration

As an advantage of the UoR's subscription to Microsoft Education Desktop products, all staff and students are eligible to download Microsoft 365 Apps onto personal devices. How to get Microsoft 365 on other devices
M365 licenses for non permanent staff
Whilst all permanent members of staff and students have the full M365 A5 licence, some categories (classed as external) get an A1 licence with limited functionality. For more information, please see our Licensing webpage.
