Making Architecture - Making Communities
We were delighted to welcome award winning architect, broadcaster and academic, Piers Taylor, on to campus to discuss how architecture can bring about transformations in people and places, and how 'making' can be a vehicle for participation. Piers explored 20 years of practice, showing work that ranged from projects for schools in the most deprived communities in the UK, to more recent work at the National Arboretum that presents a model of how communities can do things for themselves. Piers also talked about how strong links between academia and practice are essential for architecture and education to thrive.
