University of Reading appearing in news media including TV and radio

Reading Reporter launch: A feature interview with Professor Sir Brian Hoskins (Meteorology) as ‘the scientist who changed the world from Reading’ is the launch article for a new journalist-led local news site, the Reading Reporter.

Food and farming:

  • Raport quoted Dr Daniel Lamport (Psychology) on the cognitive benefits of orange juice.
  • Professor Richard Bennett (Agriculture) was quoted by Farming UK on his research on improved animal welfare. From our story: Higher animal welfare brings home the bacon for UK farmers
  • Health Medicine Network provided coverage of research into vaccinations for foot-and-mouth disease in livestock.

Health and wellbeing:

  • A study from Professor Ciara McCabe (Psychology) on hobbies and mental health was featured on US radio show The One.
  • Emeritus Professor Frank McKenna (Psychology) was quoted by Select Car Leasing about road rage.

#PlanetPartners: working with global partners to protect the environment

  • Professor Emily Black (Meteorology) was quoted by Environment Journal, Techzle, Sonnenseite, Nauka Polsce, Natur.de, and various global outlets on her research into crop droughts. From our story: Europe’s crop droughts to get worse even as rain increases
  • Professor Andrew Charlton-Perez (Meteorology) has received an OBE For contributions to climate science and education, reports The Reading Chronicle and Wokingham Today. From our story: Climate education champion receives OBE at royal investiture
  • Following 2025 being recorded as the third hottest year on record, Geographical reported on changes to climate stripes developed by Professor Ed Hawkins (Meteorology), who was quoted. From our story: 2025’s dark red stripe represents Earth’s third-warmest year
  • Archyde quoted Professor Paul Williams (Meteorology) about the air turbulence, with further coverage from Fòrum, Lugares de Nieve, Bondia, and Diari D’Andorra from the Andorra Weather Meeting.
  • Comments from Dr Kieran Hunt (Meteorology) on declining rainfall in the Himalayas were featured by Liputan.

Business and society:

  • Europe Says featured comments from Jon Foster-Pedley (Henley Business School Africa) about changes to business education in Africa.

Alumni:

  • Adam Byrne, senior research applications technologist at Synergy Flavors, who studied Food Science with Business, was interviewed by Dairy Industries.
  • The Law Society Gazette profiled British army Major Lucy Davies, who studied at Reading.
