University of Reading appearing in news media including TV and radio

#PlanetPartners: working with global partners to protect the environment 

  • Professor Paul Williams (Meteorology) is quoted by The Financial Times, Germanic, and English Times on the effect of climate change on the wavy jet stream which fuels extreme weather events.
  • Professor Richard Allan (Meteorology) is quoted by the Express & Star (in print), Gibraltar Chronicle, News Chain, Radio HC, The Energy Mix, and Not A Lot Of People Know That on how climate change led to the highest annual temperatures recorded in the UK last year.
  • Dr Stephen Burt (Meteorology) was interviewed by ITV News and quoted by Reading.co.uk on 2022 being the UK's hottest year on record. 
  • India Education Diary reports on the University's recent discovery that lightning sparks can be used as a new source of climate data, quoting Professor Giles Harrison and Professor Ed Hawkins (both Meteorology). Read our news story.
