Known error with Android browsers

Browsers affected: Native Samsung browser, Firefox, DuckDuck Go... (not an exhaustive list)

If you get an error message “This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it”, this is a known issue with some phones or browsers and occurs when clicking a link using an incompatible internet browser.

Workaround for Android mobiles and tablets

To get past this, find the application which is called “Google” on your phone (Android phones should have this installed by default, it may be in the “Google” folder), open it and paste the following URL as text in the search box.

Do not click the link! Copy and paste into the Search box in the “Google” app and press Search 

This will take you to the correct UoR Juniper Mist Portal and allow you to download and install the network profile for the University of Reading following the rest of the Android instructions.

Workaround for Chromebooks

There is a different workaround with Chromebooks, the above method does not work. You need to enable Marvis to open the network profile URL: 

On your taskbar (highlighted by arrow) search for “Apps” or View All Apps – Search for Marvis

Change the Marvis App Properties from “Open in Chrome” to “Open in the Marvis App”.

Then go back to the Juniper Mist Portal and click on “Install Network Profile” and carry on with the Android instructions.
