Guest Wi-Fi Networks
You don’t need to have a University IT account in order to use Wi-Fi at the University.
Eduroam
Wi-Fi network name (SSID) = eduroam
"eduroam" is available all around campus and is available for academic purposes:
- University of Reading staff and students
- Visitors from other eduroam institutions
- Academic visitors or anyone here on University of Reading business
How it works:
- UoR Staff and students should always use eduroam as the secure University network.
- Visitors from eduroam-participating institutions can log in using their home credentials.
- Visitors without eduroam credentials need an Eduroam Visitor Account (EVA), which must be requested in advance by a staff member via the Guest Wi-Fi account form. Access is valid for up to 30 days. Note log in details will be sent directly to the user.
Note that some institutions may have special instructions or additional steps to connect to eduroam, so if you are visiting from somewhere else and have problems, please contact your own IT department who are best placed to help you.

UoR staff or student visiting elsewhere?
Many institutions worldwide use eduroam. If you are a University of Reading member of staff or student you can get online wherever you see 'eduroam' appear in your list of Wi-Fi networks (including overseas!). You should log in using your UoR credentials. If you are having issues connecting when you are somewhere else, please contact DTS.
Need Public Wi-Fi for an event?
Wi-Fi can also be made available in certain locations for the duration of a specific event. Please contact DTS if you need Wi-Fi for visitors to a public event. If you have booked via Venue Reading, you will be given instructions for visitor access to the Venue_Reading network.
