Nine top 10 subjects in Complete University Guide 2027

The University of Reading has nine subjects ranked in the national top ten in this year's Complete University Guide 2027, published today [2 June].

Overall, the University is 43 in the UK out of 130 institutions ranked. The University has nine subjects ranked within the UK top ten. Notably, three subjects are placed within the top three nationally.

Land & Property Management leads, retaining the number one spot, while Information Technology & Systems, a new subject table, ranks second nationally. Geology, which primarily relates to Reading’s Meteorology and climate science courses, also demonstrates significant progress, rising four places to third.

Other subjects in the top ten are: Speech and Language Therapy (3), Building (6), Agriculture and Forestry (7), Archaeology (7), Food Science (8), and Education (10).

The University has also seen higher scores in many other subject areas. Creative Writing rises ten places to 12, Politics climbs ten places to 27, and both Civil Engineering and Economics rise five places to 37 and 39 respectively.

Professor Robert Van de Noort, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Reading, said: "These results show the breadth of academic excellence at Reading. Nine subjects in the national top ten is a strong performance, and it is particularly good to see Reading’s strengths in Information Technology & Systems at the top end of this new subject table.

“What also stands out this year is the range of disciplines where rankings have gone up, from Creative Writing to Politics to Civil Engineering and more. With subjects like Land & Property Management, Geology, Food Science and Agriculture & Forestry all in the top ten, Reading continues to further cement our reputation."
