University of Reading appearing in news media including TV and radio

Health and wellbeing:

  • Jenson Ventures reported on a new effective way to treat UTIs, quoting Dr Oliver Hancox, CEO of University-founded company Astratus. From our story: Rapid urine test could select UTI antibiotics within hours
  • Dr Simon Clarke (Biomedical Sciences) spoke to The World Today about hantavirus. Dr Clarke also spoke to ITV News about myths surrounding 5G masts, following one recently being set on fire in Oxford.

Food and farming:

  • Comments from Professor Gunter Kuhnle (Food and Nutritional Sciences) responding to a study into cardiovascular disease and ultra-processed foods were featured by Science Media Centre.

#PlanetPartners: working with global partners to protect the environment

  • The Southern Gazette, Midlands Gazette, East Anglia Gazette and The Thames Gazette reported that Dr James O’Donoghue (Meteorology) has won the 2026 Carl Sagan Medal for his space science research. From our story: Carl Sagan medal for scientist who took millions to space
  • Earth.com and Custommap Poster mentioned a study by Professor Hong Yang (Geography and Environmental Science) into carbon sinks.

  • Professor Patrick Major (History) was quoted by WUSF on a 250-piece private collection of the Berlin Wall remnants.
