Park House included in Good Beer Guide 2026

Park House bar on the University of Reading’s Whiteknights campus has been named in the Good Beer Guide 2026.

A favourite haunt for many staff, students and community members, the pub will now be placed in the national spotlight.

The Good Beer Guide is produced by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and every year names which pubs it believes are the very best the UK has to offer.

The 2026 guide is the 53^rd edition and includes 4,500 pubs, selected for their high standards and quality of real ales.

It is not the first time Park House has been included in the Good Beer Guide, having last appeared in 2022.

Matt Tebbit, Director of Dining Services at the University of Reading, said: “We pride ourselves in serving locally-sourced food and drink in Park House, which means every pint ordered there helps support the University’s reputation as a leader in environmental sustainability.

“Inclusion in the Good Beer Guide is tribute to the hard work of all our Dining colleagues. We welcome everyone from the local community and beyond to come and enjoy the fantastic setting we’ve created.”

Three facts about Park House 

• Park House is one of six historic houses originating from the former Whiteknights Park Estate and was the site of the original Manor House. In fact, the original building known as Park House was located roughly where Mackinder Hall student accommodation is today, and today’s Park House was known as Whiteknights Park for most of its life.
• The gardens around Park House were considered as a site for the Royal Botanic Gardens, before Kew was chosen instead.
• Park House specialises in local beers, with the closest being from Phantom Brewery in Reading. Ingredients in the meals served there are also sourced locally, including beef from the University’s Hall Farm in Shinfield.
