The University of Reading is celebrating ten years of successfully delivering engaging and innovative online learning courses. This week, the University will take a closer look at some of the courses it offers and the impacts they have made on learners. Read yesterday's story.

The online courses Reading offers in these subjects provide insights for learners worldwide who want to know more about the key environmental issues of our time, including the climate and biodiversity crises.

With hundreds of top reviews, these courses are making a difference by helping learners with an interest in climate, weather and sustainability studies.
One learner studying the Using Systems Thinking to Tackle the Climate and Biodiversity Crisis course, said: “Truly fascinating and eye-opening. Since completing the course my approach to thinking about the climate and biodiversity crisis has changed.”
An attendee of the From Waste to Value: How to Tackle Food Waste course, said: “After I completed my three weeks study, I became a better person. The information really opened my eyes… I will be trying to tackle the problems in my country when I have the opportunity.”
And another learner, who undertook the Come Rain or Shine: Understanding the Weather course, said: “[An] enjoyable course and plenty to get started with. It made me want to learn more … and I was inspired to join several community projects.”
Food and farming
Sustainability is a big part the University of Reading’s food and farming philosophy. Reading is a leading agricultural university with a range of experts helping to inform national farming policy and best practice.
These experts have shared their knowledge through a range of online courses, including courses on how farmers produce food sustainably, innovations in arable farming, understanding food supply systems and more.
