Chartered Institute of Marketing accredits all marketing courses
Students now able to gain CIM exemptions on successful completion of their degrees

Marketing students at the University of Reading can benefit from newly announced approval by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) that all of its specialist marketing undergraduate degrees have exemptions on CIM qualifications.

This development by the CIM, the world’s leading professional body for marketing, gives students graduating from each of Reading’s three esteemed marketing degrees – BSc Consumer Behaviour and Marketing, BSc Food Economics and Business Marketing and BSc Business and Management (Marketing), the opportunity to gain additional industry-recognised qualifications at an accelerated pace.

Dr Anna Macready, Programme Director for BSc Consumer Behaviour and Marketing at the University of Reading said:

“Reading has developed strong links with CIM enabling our curriculum to align with its learning outcomes for their Graduate Gateway programme to maximise employability prospects according to industry needs.”

“Joining CIM’s Graduate Gateway scheme with full accreditation gives our current, past and future students a huge benefit, as the exemptions are valid up to five years after graduation, enabling them to gain an advantage as they continue their development in the early years of their career.”

“This is a real validation of the quality and professional content of our marketing degrees, and it shows just how relevant our consumer-focused marketing courses are in today’s resource-challenged world.”

Professor Adrian Palmer, Head of Marketing & Reputation, Henley Business School at the University of Reading said:

“Our programmes give students the building blocks to help them develop the key skills needed to succeed in the world of marketing. These accreditations open the doors for our students to join a network of marketing industry leaders, and CIM’s programmes of continuing professional development.”

“Having more skilled marketers entering the workforce can help organisations achieve their commercial goals and business priorities in this difficult financial climate, which is key to helping rebuild the economy.”

Maureen Wincott, Learner Partnerships Manager at CIM, said:

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with the University of Reading. Students now only need to pass one module to complete the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing or the CIM Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing, or two modules to complete the CIM Diploma in Professional Digital Marketing. This will help students kickstart their marketing careers and fast-track their development.”

“We look forward to continuing to work closely with the University of Reading to help students achieve their professional goals and gain the recognition that is valuable with employers in the marketing and business industries.”

The three courses now approved for exemptions on CIM qualifications are:

Department of Applied Economics and Marketing (School of Agriculture, Policy and Development)

    • BSc Consumer Behaviour and Marketing
    • BSc Food Marketing and Business Economics

    Henley Business School

    • BSc Business and Management (Marketing)
