#PlanetPartners: working with global partners to protect the environment 

  • Professor Andy Turner (Meteorology) was mentioned by Times Of India for his talk on 'the effects of climate change on global and regional monsoons'. 
  • PhD researcher Jeff Da Costa (Environmental Science) spoke to BBC Radio Surrey about how governments and individuals can be doing more to prepare for flooding events.
  • Dan Fernbank, Energy and Sustainability Director at the University, spoke to BBC Radio Berkshire about the University winning Net Zero Strategy of the Year at The Energy Management Awards 2021 – his clip was played on yesterday’s news bulletins. Read our news story.

 

COVID-19: expert comment on the pandemic

  • Dr Simon Clarke (Biological Sciences) spoke to BBC Radio 2 about the fourth wave of Covid and routine testing at home, and he was quoted by Jawa Pos and RCTI Plus on how the Delta variant could die out.
  • Dr Al Edwards (Pharmacy) was quoted by FR on a new kind of vaccine that primes T-cell immunity.
  • Professor James Reade (Economics) was quoted by German website Watson on the long term effects of Covid on footballers’ performance.

  • Professor Glenn Gibson (Food) was quoted by The Times on the health benefits of pro/prebiotics, and by New Scientist and three other outlets on the treatment of sepsis. 
  • The Psychologist interviewed Dr Kai Li Chung (Psychology - University of Reading Malaysia) on new global guidelines on obtaining information without torture.
  • Dr Cathy Manning (Psychology) had her article on The Conversation on dyslexia in children republished by Foreign Affairs. 
  • Henley Business School was mentioned by The Tower Post for offering orientations and workshops to students who have received a 12-Month fully funded academic scholarship.
  • A report authored by Professor Gianluca Marcato (Henley Business School) that showed more companies in the corporate investment world are concerned about sustainability is mentioned in Trepp. 
  • A study from the University that found one to three glasses of bubbly a week helps to prevent dementia was mentioned by Houston Chronicle. 
  • Former Reading student and from the University's Industry Advisory Board, Stephanie Mitchell, was mentioned by IFST on being a speaker in a webinar that discussed how genetics may influence food choice. 
  • Marianne Lake, a University graduate, was mentioned by the Daily Mail (and in print) and nine other outlets on the possibility of her becoming the next boss of JP Morgan.
