What have you enjoyed most about the programme?

The Atmospheric Science programme at Reading is world-class and I can feel it deeply in the modules I have studied. Whilst I received a more systematic training in the basics, my final year at Reading saw me receive expertise that was highly relevant to the fundamentals I had previously studied. It was also directly useful for my subsequent final research project. I believe I benefited most from my final year dissertation project at UoR. For me, it was not only invaluable research training, but also an opportunity to gain insight into my subsequent research interests. I can say that it really developed my research skills and laid a solid foundation for my subsequent postgraduate research.

Are there any differences between the teaching mode at Reading and NUIST? If yes, what are the differences?

Yes. NUIST's courses are fundamental and theoretical. The courses at UoR, on the other hand, are highly innovative, but they are not simple in terms of theory. The courses are complex and esoteric (they are, after all, senior courses in the third year). The lecturers at UoR are well prepared for the course. They don't rely on the textbook as much, instead using real-life examples, exercises, and programming work to give us a broader perspective on the subject. These specially designed lectures opened my eyes to a world-class educational model and allowed me to become acquainted with its methods.

What is your favourite memory of Reading?

What I remember most about the University of Reading is its beautiful and peaceful campus, as well as its convenient and safe living environment. The campus buildings are both beautiful and modern, with the lake, the woods, and the wide grassy areas making it very close to nature. Walking around it makes me feel very relaxed. The most iconic building, the library, is where I spent the most time. It is the most relaxing and reassuring place for me to stay and focus on my studies. The campus is located outside of the Reading town centre, but there are supermarkets and convenience stores all around. It is also a very safe environment, even when walking alone at night.

What advice would you give to the current students on how to make the most of the transfer experience?

I would advise everyone transferred here to make the most of their final year as an undergraduate. This year is not only about classes and research, but also about grocery shopping and cooking, which means that there is a dual task of studying and living. If you can make it through this academic year, you will have made significant progress and improvements in education and living independently.
