Theatre
Make use of our £11.4 million purpose-built, state-of-the-art facilities which include a cinema, three theatres, a suite of cutting rooms, specialist sound editing and recording facilities, and a fully equipped studio for film and television production.
Film, theatre and television are crucial to shaping the way we understand our place in the world. Our MA courses chart the development of these three major cultural forms from the early twentieth-century into the digital age, equipping you with key analytical and interpretative skills, practical expertise in film, theatre and television production, and a wide range of transferable skills.
Our Master’s courses allow you to specialise in an area of academic enquiry that interests you or to develop your own area of practice through research. They also give you the opportunity to look at current critical debates in all three disciplines related to cutting-edge research in the Department.
Teaching is undertaken by leaders in their fields, with strong links to industry and practitioners. You will also receive one-to-one supervision on your dissertation/ practice as research project. The University of Reading has one of the best subject libraries in the country and our ideal location means that we can run regular theatre trips to London (25 minutes by train) which are integral to a number of the taught modules.
