Film, theatre and television are crucial in shaping the way we understand our place in the world. At Reading, we chart the development of these three major cultural forms from the early twentieth century into the digital age.

an area of academic enquiry that interests
you or develop your own area of practice

state-of-the-art facilities which
include a cinema, three theatres, a suite
of cutting rooms, specialist sound editing
and recording facilities, and a fully equipped
studio for film and television production.
Teaching is undertaken by leaders in their
fields, with strong links to industry and
practitioners. You will also receive oneto-
one supervision on your dissertation/
practice as research project.
We will equip you with key analytical and
interpretative skills, practical expertise in
film, theatre and television production,
and a wide range of transferable skills.
The University of Reading has one of the
best subject libraries in the country and
our ideal location means that we can run
regular theatre trips to London (25 minutes
by train) which are integral to a number of
the taught modules.
