CentAUR pause update

Pause on CentAUR deposits ahead of PURE launch

As part of the transition to PURE, the University's new research information system, there will be a pause on research output deposits to CentAUR from 2 November 2026 for approximately three weeks.

This pause is necessary to allow the Open Research Team and Pure Project team to prepare repository data and workflows for the move to PURE, ensuring a smooth transition to the University's new approach to managing research information.

What does this mean for researchers?

If you have research outputs that need to be deposited in CentAUR, please ensure they are submitted before 2 November 2026.

During the pause period:

  • New research output deposits cannot be processed through CentAUR, although anything which already has been deposited will be reviewed.
  • Updates to existing records may be delayed.
  • Open Access compliance requirements will continue to be monitored, and further guidance will be provided where necessary.

The pause is expected to last for approximately three weeks.Once PURE goes live, researchers will be able to deposit new research outputs directly through PURE, which will become the entry point for research output deposit and management.

CentAUR will remain the University's full-text research repository, but deposits will be made via PURE rather than directly into CentAUR.

What do I need to do?

To help us prepare for the transition:

  1. Review your recent publications and identify any outputs that still need to be deposited.
  2. Urgent deposits will be articles for which the Open Access deposit window falls within the 3 week pause, or if you have an outputs you expect to be put forward for REF during the pause period.
  3. Submit outstanding outputs before 2 November 2026. Look out for further communications about the launch of PURE and the new deposit process.
