Explore the science behind language, and learn how to diagnose and treat communication and swallowing disorders.
Language is at the heart of human life. Its study is crucial to our understanding of ourselves as individuals, as members of society and as a species. At Reading, as one of the top 5 universities in the UK for Aural & Oral Sciences (Complete University Guide, 2022), we offer you the opportunity to study all aspects of this most complex form of human behaviour.
Speech and language therapists (SLTs) assess and treat people who have speech, language and communication problems. They also help people who have difficulty eating or swallowing. SLTs work in a range of settings, including hospitals, schools, community health centres and clients' homes.
