COVID-19 update
Find out about how we'll be delivering our courses in 2020.
Studying law at Reading provides the perfect balance between academic learning and practical experience.
You will learn from experienced tutors who are enthusiastic about their subject, and from leading experts in specialist areas such as medical law, environmental law and international law. The School of Law received a 90% overall approval score in the 2020 National Student Survey. Some of our tutors are expert advisers to government and policy-makers, international organisations, and civil society organisations, and 100% of our research overall was judged to be world leading, internationally excellent or internationally recognised (Research Excellence Framework, 2014).
You will also benefit from our commitment to the development of your professional and practical skills through problem-based learning projects, commercial awareness training and work experience.
You will have the opportunity to take part in client interviewing, negotiation and mooting competitions, with work experience placements offered as prizes. Reading Law School also hosts one of the largest pro bono programmes in the UK, giving you the opportunity to work, on a voluntary basis, with local charities and other institutions where you will give legal advice and support to real people with real problems.
Our flexible law courses also allow you to select modules from outside the school, including those offered by the School of Modern Languages and Henley Business School.
The study of law prepares students not only for the legal profession but also for a diverse range of careers. 86% of our graduates are in employment or further study 15 months after the end of their course [1]. Intellectual strength, a practical approach to the world and the ability to communicate clearly are skills highly valued by employers within local and national government, international organisations, the voluntary sector, and business.
