How do I prepare for the subject-specific elements of my interview?

Please be prepared to deliver a five-minute presentation relating to a piece of text which you think could be used as a stimulus for a Key Stage 3 drama activity. The text may be an extract from a play, a poem, a short story, a teenage novel, or a clipping from a newspaper or magazine.

You will need to explain why you think the text is appropriate and stimulating. You will also need to deliver the presentation as if you are addressing a Key Stage 3 class (in other words, explain to the class what you would like them to do).

Your presentation should:

  • focus on just one activity
  • demonstrate your knowledge
  • demonstrate your communication skills
  • be no more than five minutes long.

This will be a verbal presentation. Please do not use PowerPoint or other presentation formats.

Please email the text you have chosen to use for your presentation to the subject leader, Simon Floodgate (s.floodgate@reading.ac.uk), before the date of your interview. If you have any questions about the presentation that you need to prepare, please contact Simon Floodgate.
