Learn from dynamic, high-profile international artists and thrive in our vibrant postgraduate community.
Led by our team of staff who are actively engaged as artists, curators and writers, our programme offers you opportunities to engage with exhibition and curatorial initiatives, theoretical texts and publication projects. You will also benefit from the focused delivery of a guest artist who will work with you in semester 2 and towards your graduate show in semester 2.
We are an active Department, and we pride ourselves on the quality and vibrancy of our 24-hour studio community. Our programme of events, performances, screenings and shared discussions across all disciplines provides a social and dynamic environment. You will be taught in small group seminars and studio crits as well as through lectures and tutorials with a diverse range of visiting artists. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to be taught in a major European city on our International Study Visit. We are a highly ranked University for Art and Design – 10th in the UK in the Complete University Guide 2025.
As a student on one of our master’s programmes you will find yourself part of this stimulating postgraduate community and intellectual environment. You will work alongside our staff and PhD students, who pursue a wide range of research topics and practices. You will benefit from working closely with our PhD researchers through engagement with symposia and reading groups.
Our postgraduate environment extends out from the University through our external exhibitions and symposia. Participate in our Asia network, with exciting opportunities to exhibit in Japan, China and South Korea. Alternatively, gain professional experience by leading a workshop at Tate Exchange, a programme of events hosted in collaboration with Tate Modern, which explores the impact of art on individuals, communities, and societies.
