The interview may involve a number of candidates and will be conducted remotely via Microsoft Teams.
Prior to interview
- It is not expected that you create any content e.g., slides, worksheets or other resources. You should be able to answer questions about why you have chosen to teach the content your way and what aspects students might find difficult about the topic.
The remote interview process
Your interview will start with an introduction by me, Dr Fiona Curtis (subject leader for PGCE Mathematics), and I will answer any questions you have on the video presentation.
You will then be given 5 minutes to talk about the teaching topic you have prepared, and I will ask you questions about your decisions.
You will then be asked a series of formal questions and I will ask you about your education and experience and give you a chance to share your motivations and ideology. There will also be an opportunity for you to ask questions.
Immediately after the formal interview, I will send you an email containing a short written task, intended to assess your literacy, and another task to assess your numeracy. These tasks should take approximately 20-30 minutes. You will need to return the tasks via email within 90 minutes. You can print, complete by hand, and then scan your work, or you can complete the tasks electronically, as you wish. The email address to return your tasks to is: email@example.com
A decision on whether to offer you a place will be made within a few days of your interview, and you will be sent an email confirming the decision.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions.
If your/my network does not behave, please do not panic! I will email you using the addresses given in your application and we will make a contingency plan.
