For students

Welcome to the University of Reading Health & Safety web pages.  As an organisation, the Health & Safety of those on campus is very important to us.  There are a number of ways that you can have a positive influence on Health & Safety on campus.

Incident Reporting

It is important that staff and students report any incidents or near miss events via the online reporting form Report an Incident Online.  This is so the incident can be investigated to identify actions needed to prevent recurrence and to ensure the incident is recorded.

A near miss (or close call) is an event that didn't harm anyone, but could have.

Risk Assessments

Your School will have a Health & Safety Coordinator and they will work with your Head of School to ensure that Managers & Supervisors have considered the risks associated with their teaching activities.  There is more information on our Risk Assessment page.

You may also wish to read our Code of Practice on Risk Assessment.

Travel & Fieldwork

As a student you may be required to travel as part of your studies, for fieldwork or conferences.  Health & Safety Services work with Procurement and Insurance to ensure that all risks associated with travel have been suitably assessed.  You can find further information on the Travel web pages and you can also read our Code of Practice on Overseas Travel.
