If you are visiting us, please take a moment to review the information below to help ensure your visit is safe, smooth and productive.
Before You Arrive

Please ensure your visit has been arranged in advance with the Health and Safety Services team

If you have specific access requirements, inform your host ahead of your visit so we can make appropriate arrangements

If you are attending for training, consultancy, or meetings, we will provide details of the venue, start time and any required documentation in advance
On Arrival
-
Please report to the reception desk in Whiteknights House or alternate meeting location if prior agreed
-
A Health and Safety Services colleague will issue you with a visitor's parking permit if required
Travel and Parking
The Health and Safety Services offices are located in the University of Reading's main administration building, Whiteknights House, Ground Floor, Room G23.
The closest available car park is Car Park 6. Please note that you must display a valid visitor's permit to park here. Alternatively, Car Park 1A is available as Pay & Display. The cost is £1.50 per hour, or £10 for all day parking. You must display a valid ticket available from the ticket machines in the car park. The machines accept contactless payment with a credit/debit cards.
If you are issued with a visitor parking permit, please ensure that it is attached to your vehicle's rear view mirror and details can be seen clearly.

Health & Safety Information
Your safety is important to us. While on campus, please:

Follow all University safety procedures and signage

Comply with any local safety instructions provided by your host

Wear any required personal protective equipment (PPE) if visiting operational or laboratory areas

Remain with your host unless otherwise agreed
If you discover a hazard or are involved in an incident, report it immediately to Health and Safety Services or alternate member of staff.
Emergency Procedures
In the event of an emergency:

Follow the instructions of University staff

Leave the building promptly via the nearest safe exit

Do not use lifts unless directed
-
Proceed to the designated assembly point and remain there until advised it is safe to leave
If you require assistance during an evacuation, please inform us upon arrival.
First Aid
If you require first aid:

Contact Health and Safety Services or the nearest alternate member of staff

First aiders are available across campus
For emergencies, call 999 and then inform Security Services on +44 (0)118 378 6300
Security and Safeguarding
The University takes security and safeguarding seriously. Visitors must:

Stay within authorised areas only

Not allow unauthorised access to buildings

Follow all safeguarding guidance where relevant
