Areas of interest

My interests centre on book design, typography, print production and physical making. I am particularly interested in how material choices, format, structure, and typographic detail affect the way printed work is read, handled, and understood.

My practice is rooted in publication design and print-led communication, with a focus on carefully made outcomes that connect concept, content, and production.

Teaching

I support students across practical and technical areas of graphic communication, particularly in relation to print, bookmaking, layout, typography, and production. This includes helping students move between digital design and physical outcomes, and encouraging confidence with materials, process, and finish.

A key part of my role is supporting students as they develop their practical work, helping them consider how ideas can be strengthened through appropriate production decisions and hands-on making.

Background

I am a book and print designer with experience across editorial design, publication systems, visual identity, packaging, and print production. Before joining the Department of Typography & Graphic Communication, I worked in both in-house and freelance design roles, producing work across catalogues, books, printed communications, and brand materials.

I completed an MA in Communication Design (Book Design pathway) at the University of Reading, where my dissertation, Form follows language: A study into the linguistic and typographic differences of English and Arabic monolingual dictionaries, explored how language structure can inform typographic decision-making and the design of the printed page. This remains an area of interest within my wider practice.
