Donations make a real difference to the department as they enable us to expand the range of opportunities offered to our students and to further the work with our collections.
The University of Reading is an independent corporation with charitable status (reference X 8145). If you would like to make a gift and are a UK taxpayer, your generosity can be boosted further thanks to Gift Aid, at no extra cost to you.
Thank you for your support.
The Michael Twyman Fund
The Michael Twyman Fund recognises Michael’s contribution to student learning in typography and graphic communication, and to collections-based research and teaching. He started acquiring material for what are now the Lettering, Printing and Graphic Design Collections in the 1960s and continued to introduce it to students and researchers until his death in 2025.
The fund continues his work:
- for short-term Research Fellowships using the Lettering, Printing and Graphic Design Collections
- for placements for undergraduate and postgraduate students who want to work with the Collections
- for aspects of collections management including conservation and cataloguing.
The Typography Student Fund
The Typography Student Fund supports undergraduate students undertaking extracurricular activities that relate to their studies. Individuals or groups of students can apply to the fund to cover costs including:
- travel to events or to undertake research
- tickets for lectures, exhibitions, or conferences
- new studio equipment (e.g. for printing, binding, and finishing).
