Areas of interest

All things related to the effects of foods and nutrition on cognitive function including:

  • polyphenols (flavonoids) and cognitive function
  • glycaemic response and cognitive function
  • type 2 diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance and cognitive function
  • lifespan relationships between habitual diet, cognitive function and general health
  • dietary behaviour change interventions
  • exercise and cognitive function.


I supervise research students at PhD, MSc, and UG, and currently teach at MSc level (e.g. research methods/statistics/methods in cognition), UG level (e.g. part 3 module Nutrition, Cognition and Metabolism) and oversee the Psychology International foundation programme.

I am also currently the Part 1 Tutor for undergraduate students.
