Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) focuses on the sustainable development of international languages and other non-language academic disciplines, including economics, management, engineering and science, making it an ideal partner for our School of Mathematical, Physical and Computational Sciences. Working together allows us to offer exciting opportunities for you to study in both Guangzhou and the UK.

2+2 partnership

The 2+2 partnership sees students spend the first two years at GDUFS and, subject to satisfactory completion, students then transfer to Reading on to Part 2 of BSc Mathematics with Finance and Investment Banking or BSc Mathematics and Economics. Students will receive an award from the University of Reading upon successful completion of the 4 year programme. Students from GDUFS are entitled to a 10% tuition fee discount.  

Entry requirements

Students must pass GDUFS Part 1 and Part 2 with an average mark of 70% with no mark below 60% in an individual module

English language requirement: IELTS 6.5 with no component less than 5.5 in each band.

Campus life

The School of Mathematical, Physical and Computational Sciences is located within our beautiful, award-winning Whiteknights campus – a vibrant community with a wide range of facilities to help you study, have fun and relax.

We have a newly refurbished library on campus in addition to a variety of venues to shop, eat, drink and socialise. Our award-winning Students' Union runs over 150 clubs, societies and volunteering activities. You’ll also have access to the extensive sports facilities on offer, including SportsPark.

The University is within walking distance of the town centre and there are also regular buses from campus. Accessing London is simple, with trains from Reading town centre taking around 30 minutes.

We offer a wide range of accommodation options to choose from, both on and around the Whiteknights campus.
