This page is for University of Reading staff who teach or support international students, or students whose first language is not English.
Find out how the Global Academy's Academic English Programme can work with you to strengthen academic language and literacy support, enhance your teaching, and help your students succeed.
Each department at the University has a dedicated subject-specific language and literacy expert from the Global Academy's Academic English Programme.
Our Academic Language and Literacy Liaisons have a wealth of experience in designing and delivering subject-specific language and literacy support. We understand the academic language and literacy challenges that international students may experience when studying in a UK university and can help you address these within your teaching.
We can offer advice and support on a range of areas, including:
- setting up a new subject-specific Academic English course or support within your department
- designing targeted teaching, such as a guest lecture or a series of workshops
- providing support for individual students
- helping students transition to a new academic culture
- delivering academic integrity workshops for international students
- communicating effectively with your international cohort.
See our Subject-specific page for details of the academic language and literacy support we currently offer across campus.
