Professor Christine Williams

Professor Williams' responsibilities as Director of Food, Agriculture and Health are to strengthen and develop further relationships between the university and key stakeholders in the areas of agriculture, nutrition and food security. These are supported through her external committee work including her membership of the government's Food Research Partnership, chairmanship of the BBSRC Food Security Advisory Panel and the Institute of Food Research (Norwich) Governing Body.

Professor Williams' research is primarily concerned with understanding the impact of diet on human health, particularly in relation to cardiovascular disease and insulin resistance. She also has particular interest in enhancing population health through food chain approaches to nutrition from agriculture, manufacturing and food innovation, marketing and communication.

Externally, Professor Williams is member of the Food Research Partnership Committee (Government Chief Scientist Office), member of the BBSRC Food Security Strategic Advisory Panel, Governor of the British Nutritional Foundation and member of the Rank Prize Trustees Advisory Committee on Nutrition.

Professor Williams was chair of the Research Excellence Framework Sub-Panel 6 (Agriculture, Veterinary and Food Science) 2014.
