MSc Data Science and Advanced Computing

Our master's course is designed for graduates of computer science and its related subjects – such as physics, engineering and economics – as well as IT professionals and data analysts who aspire to become data scientists.

This course is accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS) – the Chartered Institute for IT. Many companies provide input into our course, ensuring the skills you learn are relevant to the IT industry.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Are you looking to gain CPD points or take an individual module that is of special interest to you? Our master's taught modules are available as free-standing training courses, with two enrolment options:

 

  • CPD with no assessment
  • Individual modules with assessment. This mode of study can contribute towards a master's, diploma or certificate qualification.

Fees, funding and scholarships

A variety of funding support is available to our master’s students.

UK/EU students can receive government loans to help towards tuition fees and living costs. You may also be eligible for other grants and bursaries.

Both UK/EU and international students can apply for scholarships, which are awarded based on previous academic achievement.

Your career

Reading is at the centre of a major high-technology hub, with companies including Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco Systems, Hewlett Packard (HP) and Intel located within a few miles of our campus.

 

Many of our graduates start new careers in IT, finance or government, while others advance their existing careers in these areas. Some have gone on to work for multinational companies and consultancies, or have continued their research at Reading or other institutions.
