University Mental Health Day

Thursday 12 March 2026

Supporting your Mental Health and wellbeing is our priority

University Mental Health Day is a reminder of the importance of taking care of ourselves and each other.

At the University of Reading, we prioritise the mental health and wellbeing of all students.  We understand that life as a University student can be challenging, it's understandable you can feel overwhelmed at times, without all the additional stressors that navigating life can bring.  It's important to listen to how you are feeling and support your own individual needs.

Supporting you today and all year round

As a global university, our community of students and staff come from all around the world. We are committed to creating an inclusive, compassionate, and respectful environment for our diverse community. In 2025, we achieved the University Mental Health Charter (UMHC) Award. Engaging with this process helped us to better understand our strengths and identify areas for improvement in how we support our community.

There are many options for Support available to you at the University and in the local area.  You don't have to be in a crisis to reach out.  All students have unlimited access to the 24 hour support line, and Wisdom app offering you access to talk confidentially to experts day or night in your preferred language.  Your dedicated Welfare team are also here In person for your needs.

Wellness is not merely the absence of illness or distress, it is having the space for positive mental, physical and social wellbeing. Knowing what support you need is the first step to ensuring you are looking after yourself at university. The student wellness check will help you identify areas to work on, with the help of useful links to support.
