Background

I am an applied microeconomist specialising in the economics of education. My research examines how education policies and institutions shape human capital development, inequality, and wellbeing.
I use causal inference methods and longitudinal and administrative datasets to evaluate education policies and interventions. Much of my work focuses on the English academy programme. I have also studied the relationship between breastfeeding and child cognitive development. I joined Reading in 2026 to work on a Nuffield project examining the impact of permanent school closures on pupil outcomes.
