Key recommendations

In 2005/06, the University Board for Teaching and Learning approved the recommendations of the 'Working Group on User Surveys'.

Some of the key recommendations were that:

  • support services should provide feedback to their users on the results of surveys and inform them of the actions taken;
  • support services should publish their survey results widely, including on their own website and on the user surveys website, except where surveys deal with information and produce outcomes which are likely to be commercially sensitive or personal to individuals.

Members of staff who conduct surveys should keep these recommendations in mind and ensure that responses are communicated back to users.

By communicating with users, including those who have participated in surveys, staff can demonstrate that student feedback is valued and that it can lead to real change and improvements. This should encourage users to participate in future surveys and will go some way to avoid survey fatigue.
