National Teaching Fellowship Scheme

Advance HE runs the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS), a scheme that celebrates and rewards outstanding individual impact in teaching and learning across the country.

Each year up to 55 individuals receive a National Teaching Fellowship. The Scheme aims to raise the profile of learning and teaching, recognise and celebrate individuals who make an outstanding impact on student outcomes and the teaching profession, and provide an extension to institutional teaching and learning recognition schemes. On gaining an award, National Teaching Fellows play an ongoing role in enhancing teaching and learning within their institution, the HE sector and further afield.

Each year, eligible higher education providers are invited to nominate up to three individual members of staff who have supported and developed the student learning experience at their institution.

NTFS Roadshows

Advance HE, in collaboration with the Association of National Teaching Fellows (ANTF), is delivering a series of ‘virtual roadshow’ webinars to support those interested in applying for a National Teaching Fellowship. Facilitated by ANTF Committee Events co-ordinator, Prof Debbie Holley and the Advance Awards Team, this series of webinars will offer insights and guidance through the NTF application process. Each will focus on a different aspect of the scheme. Each webinar is free and open to Advance HE UK Members.

Webinar one: Thinking about your NTFS application

Tue 8 Nov 2022 13:00-14:00 GMT

This first webinar will cover the new guidance for institutes and individuals, highlight useful Advance HE resources, and include new award winners and ‘old’ hands sharing their journey to NTF.

Webinar two: A conversation with successful NTFs

Wed 14 Dec 2022 12:00 -13:00 GMT

This second webinar will offer a brief re-cap of the scheme and highlight updates. It will also feature some personal journeys from existing National Teaching Fellows. There will be plenty of time to ask our panel questions.

Webinar three: Polishing your application: Institutional/Individual perspectives

Thu 19 Jan 2023 13:00-14:00 GMT

This third webinar will briefly re-cap the previous two sessions, and the panel will include a representative responsible for staff development in our institutions, to offer the institutional viewpoint about the scheme, as well as successful NTFs happy to share their experiences.
