Support For Applicants

The CPD Scheme is a non-taught route through which individuals develop their own application for Fellowship. To support you with this, we have developed a range of support you can access. This page outlines the range of support available.

Website

The webpages contain a range of materials to support you with your application (e.g. screencasts, resources focused on writing each section of the application and reading lists). Access the resources using the links below:

Here to Help

You will find all the information you need to begin developing your application in the handbook or the other resources we provide. However, there are rare occasions when the individual nature of applications means someone might have a very specific question about their application. For specific queries:

  • contact someone locally who has been through the Scheme (names of past applicants are on the website or ask your SDTL)
  • contact us during a Here to Help session. These are one hour windows of time that we put aside as an opportunity for you to ask any questions you can't find the answer to on the website or in the Handbook. The dates/times of the Here to Help phone-ins can be found in the 'key dates' section on the website. Please send your question to aaron.cooper@reading.ac.uk in advance of the session and he will call you during the next Here to Help session.

Feedback

Stage 1: Initial feedback should be sought from someone who has been through the scheme and who has knowledge of the PSF and the application requirements. Use the 'Alumni List' on our webpages or talk to your SDTL to identify someone to approach for feedback.

Stage 2: Feedback from a 'critical friend': The 'Critical Friends' Directory' can be found on the website. You can contact anyone on the directory to request support/feedback.

Stage 3: All applicants are offered a 30 minute one-to-one consultation appointment where we can give oral feedback on your draft application (please note, we are unable to provide written feedback). We have considerable expertise in what makes a successful application so we strongly recommend making use of the opportunity for feedback. Please email Aaron to book an appointment. You will be asked to confirm you have had, and acted on, two previous layers of feedback.
