Research projects

Professor Mitchell has been involved in research and industry projects worth nearly £2m, many of these being Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) projects.

Background

Professor Mitchell came to Reading in 1977 as an undergraduate, did his PhD and then was made a lecturer in Cybernetics. Since then he has had many roles, including Head of Department of Cybernetics, and School Director of Teaching and Learning. He was made Professor of Cybernetics in August 2015.

Awards and honours

In 2011, Professor Mitchell was awarded a University Teaching Fellowship for his contribution to Teaching and Learning across the University. He was made Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) in 2014. Professor Mitchell was academic supervisor for the KTP with Red-Whale which was awarded the Best KTP in the UK, Sep 2021.
