Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply

The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply is the professional body for both individuals and organisations working in purchasing and supply chain management.

The Institute runs an accreditation scheme for companies, in both the private and public sector, benchmarking departments against others in the industry. Procurement at the University of Reading first achieved accreditation in 2008, the first University in the UK to gain this certification for excellence in procurement policies and procedures. The accreditation was successfully re-assessed in December 2011, and Procurement were awarded a further 3-year certification.
